Former Vice President Joe Biden maintains a commanding lead over the Democratic field, as support for Senator Elizabeth Warren continues to erode, according to the Investor’s Business Daily/TIPP Poll for December.

Biden received backing from 26 percent of Democratic or Democratic-leaning voters this month, compared with 29 percent in November. Senator Bernie Sanders moved up one spot to take second place, with 18 percent support, a five-point increase over the previous month. Meanwhile, Warren’s base of support shrunk from 23 percent in November to 14 percent this month, amid increased scrutiny over her controversial policies, such as Medicare-for-All.When it comes to head-to-head matchups, however, nearly all top-tier Democratic candidates are lagging behind President Donald Trump. This month, Biden was the only major candidate to hold an edge over the president, garnering support from 50 percent of registered voters, against Trump’s 45 percent. Sanders and Warren, on the other hand, both trailed President Trump in the December poll. Trump holds a slight lead over Sanders, at 48 percent to 47 percent, while enjoying a five-point advantage against Warren, at 49 percent to 44 percent.The Investor’s Business Daily/TIPP Poll has been recognized as the most accurate poll in the U.S., having correctly called the outcome of each of the last four presidential elections, including President Trump’s victory in 2016.
